patch bay? I bought a patch bay and I eventually got it hooked up but I don't really understand what normalled, open, half normalled and parallel mean. I read the manual but I am still confused.
what is this all about |

Re: patch bay? Ok here goes:
OPEN the top jacks are not related to the bottom jacks i.e. no signal passes from one to the other unless you physically patch them to one another. Used for channel insert sends and returns. NORMALIZED the top jack is connected to the bottom jack, signal passes from top to bottom without the use of a patch cable. If a patch cable is inserted signal path is broken and the connection is severed. Used for aux sends/returns HALF-NORMALLED the top and bottom jacks are related like a NORMALIZED configuration however when a patch cable is inserted into the top jack the signal is multed, split. The signal continues to pass to the bottom jack but it is now split and runs through the patch cable so that you can also jack the signal in elsewhere Hope this helped |

Re: patch bay? I follow a simple rule when buying anything related to creative endeavors: spend what you can reasonably afford, then spend some more.
